Versatile soft robot hands

Soft robot hands have garnered considerable attention in recent years for their potential to transform industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, and robotics. This surge in interest is driven by the growing necessity for safer human-robot interactions, enhanced manipulation capabilities, and bio-inspired design approaches. Researchers are increasingly drawn to this field to explore the development of flexible, dexterous, and efficient robotic systems capable of emulating the intricate capabilities of human hands.

The applications of soft hands focus on addressing the challenges associated with daily and industrial object grasping and manipulation. For instance, traditional robot grippers struggle to accurately pick up individual pills from a box of stacked small objects. Our solution, which includes soft hands and corresponding grasping algorithms, enables easy retrieval of the desired number of pills or other small/transparent/fragile objects from a stack. Additionally, the soft hands are constructed from food-grade materials, ensuring the robot hand's compliance with food safety standards. Due to their flexibility and durability, the soft hands are well-suited for various logistics tasks, such as food production. Medicine distribution, bin-picking, and complex grasping operations.
